A Fun Workout Challenge…

Hello friends!

I’m sorry for the brief hiatus the last two weeks. I’m back now and I’ve got a fun challenge to share with you all.

I’ve been reading Gina Harney’s blog, The Fitnessista, for about 3 years now. You can view it here. Every year she puts together a Winter Shape Up. It’s a four week challenge, complete with a healthy eating plan put together by Anne Mauney at Fannetastic Food. The challenge is completely free and there is no need for a gym to complete the workouts.

Many people want to get in shape but feel they need a gym membership or some sort of trainer to achieve results. I am here to tell you that there are plenty of free resources online that will get you started on your path to health.

The Winter Shape Up started today and it is not too late to join. Just visit this page and sign up with your email to get updates on the week’s schedule and meal plan info.

Let me know if you decide to try it out!

A Year-Round Gift: Charity Miles

It’s that time of year when food surrounds us everywhere we look. At work, at home, at school, at grandma’s…it’s everywhere. And it all tastes soooo good! It’s a known fact that people gain weight during the holidays and that’s why come New Year’s Day we get slammed with ads on resolving to shed the pounds!

We also often resolve to do something more for our community in the upcoming year, to give back to others, to be a better person. What if there was an app that inspired you to keep BOTH?

Charity Miles is a free app you can download on your smartphone that will track your miles as you run, walk, or bike. As you rack up the miles, you raise money for the charity of your choice (that participates with the app). How cool is that?!

Around Christmas we love to be charitable and many workplaces, stores, and churches offer us the opportunities to donate to different causes. However, some of us on tighter budgets may feel strained, especially at this time of year. It feels like we can’t afford to give. This is an app that is completely free and gives us the opportunity to help others while improving your own health. All it costs is your time, which most of us have an abundance to give. It sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

What are some of your favorite charities to donate to? Leave some links in the comments if available. I’d love to check them out!
