My First Pregnancy: Weeks 31 – 33

Well I really fell behind over the last few weeks, so here is a massive catch-up post. Things are not changing too much at this point in my pregnancy. I am large and in charge and the baby is about 19 inches long and is only gaining fat at this point. There is some organ development happening still, but as far as length she should be at her birth length now.

Week 31 I had off of work after returning from Michigan and it was much-needed. I spent the week resting, planning, and hanging out with friends. I experienced some occasional heartburn but nothing that those Tums didn’t fix. 🙂 I received my first rude comment from a stranger regarding my size during week 31. She asked me when I was due, made a surprised face, then asked me what I’d been eating and if I was sure I wasn’t having twins. Really?! Unfortunately I’m not quick enough to come up with a sassy response, so I just walked away.

Week 32 was a 50 hour work week which I was definitely feeling. Kudos to you ladies who have other children to take care of while carrying a baby at the same time. I had my nanny kiddos for 50 hours that week and was exhausted. My eyes got really heavy around 2pm each day and all I could think about was sleep. I’d get home, take a short nap, then still feel like I could go to bed at 8:30 even though I stayed up until 10. I also felt extra large that week and started to experience hip pain.

A few of my friends in Nashville put together a baby shower for me and it happened about a week and a half ago now. It was held at my nanny family’s house and it was a beautiful shower. I got to see lots of my friends, old and new and was given some lovely presents to help Nate and I get ready for the baby. I am very grateful and feel very blessed to have such wonderful people around us during this huge transition in our life!

So now week 33 has just been completed. My body is definitely starting to prepare itself for the birth which will happen in the next 6ish weeks (ahhh!). I am still very sleepy! Since the girls are both back in school full time now, I have large chunks of time away from work when I can go home. While I am home I NAP. It is lovely. I couldn’t have asked for a better working situation for pregnancy! Ha! I only have 3.5 weeks left with my girls, though, which makes me sad. I can’t believe my time with them is coming to a close already. They’ve been so much fun.

I’m finding it harder to get motivated to workout if I don’t do it as one of the first things I complete each day. Energy is waning for sure! Sleep is getting harder and more uncomfortable. I ditched my Snoogle this week (my huge body pillow) because I felt like it was elevating my head too much and causing more back pain. My hips hurt a lot while I’m sleeping even with a pillow in between my legs. Last night I slept with just my regular head pillow and it seemed to do the trick! No hip or back pain. I guess sometimes less is more?

We are ramping up for the little lady’s arrival and for our home to be ready. Both grandmas (Troyer and Hood) are lined up to visit us, plane tickets and dates are scheduled, and my brother is coming with his wife to help us move. We’ve started purging things in our apartment and are selling some items. This weekend we are planning on doing some refrigerator (our house does not come with one), couch, and mattress shopping which is all very exciting. We hope to have everything purchased and lined up to be delivered when we move in to the new place so we don’t have to worry about it at that time. It will be a huge check mark off the list of things to do! We’re also getting boxes this week so we can start packing some things away that we don’t use on a daily basis (books, dvds, clothes, knick-knacks, etc.).

It’s all really happening now, people! I feel like I’ve been waiting and waiting and now that it’s getting close to go time, I’m ready to get to work. Let’s do this! 🙂 Thanks for reading this all the way through (if you’ve made it this far). You’re a champ. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
